“BDC make the most incredible instruments and they do this by-hand, with passion, innovation and meticulous attention to detail. This is why I choose to play BDC drums.

I like music and art that is beautifully crafted and has a strong sense of individual identity, and BDC drums embody these characteristics, they really are works of art in their own right. The attention to detail in all aspects of construction is second-to-none, and it all adds up to beautiful and unique instruments which sound and look incredible. In my spare time I'm actually an amateur woodworker, so I was like a kid in a sweet shop when I got shown around the factory and I managed to ask a lot of nerdy questions! By the time I'd left I had an even greater appreciation for the drums made at BDC. One thing that really struck me was the fact that all the drums are handmade from start to finish.  The Whitehaven finish is the perfect finish for me! The white colour is neutral so blends perfectly with any surrounding, but as soon as the stage lights hit it, it turns into a kaleidoscope producing such beautiful depth of colour and brilliant reflections of light.

It sounds, feels and looks beautiful. I was particularly impressed with the build quality of everything as I set up the drums for the first time - everything looks and feels premium and built to last and the bearing edges on every drum were perfect - which is a first! You can really tell that these drums have been hand-built and hand-inspected at every step of the build-process.  The cold press construction is a far superior construction method, these shells are still going to be around and sounding great in 200 years and more!  The toms tune up beautifully - clean, clear pitches with bags of warmth + tone, similarly the bass drums sound great across the tuning range which is quite unusual in my experience.  Then all the nice little touches as I was tuning up such as the 'ThreadGrips' inside the lugs, which mean the drums can hold lower tunings than other drums I've owned and played - this is such a useful feature - and crucially the 'grips' don't kick in until just before you get the tension-rods finger-tight, so it's still fast and easy to change heads!”
